Coast FIRE is a milestone where you've saved enough that if you stop contributing now, your investments will grow to support your retirement at a traditional age. You can "coast" to retirement without saving more, giving you freedom to pursue lower-paying passions or reduce work hours.
Is Coasty really free?
Yes! The free version includes all core features: unlimited accounts, net worth tracking, retirement projections, and complete privacy. There's a Premium tier that adds multi-currency support for tracking accounts in different currencies. No ads, no selling your data.
How is my data stored?
All your financial data is stored locally on your device. There's no cloud sync, and no third-party access. If you subscribe, your account data will be stored securely to manage your subscription, but your financial data remains private on your device.
Can I sync data across multiple devices?
Currently, no. Coasty is designed with privacy as the top priority, so all data stays on your device. We're exploring options for future releases that would optionally enable this feature in the future.
What currencies are supported?
The free version lets you choose one home currency (CAD or USD) for all accounts. Premium subscribers can track accounts in multiple currencies simultaneously—perfect for cross-border finances, expats, or international investments.
How accurate are the retirement projections?
The projections use compound growth calculations based on the growth rates you set for each account. Remember, these are estimates based on your assumptions—actual returns will vary. We recommend using conservative growth rates (5-7%) for more realistic projections.
What platforms are supported?
Coasty is available on both iOS and Android devices.
Do you connect to my bank accounts?
No, Coasty does not connect to any financial institutions. You manually enter your account balances, giving you complete control and privacy. This also means no recurring access to your accounts and no security risks from third-party connections.
Is this suitable for complex financial situations?
Yes! Coasty handles multiple account types including tax-sheltered accounts (RRSP, 401k), taxable investments, real estate, vehicles, crypto, cash, and debts. You can set custom growth rates for each account type and track accounts across different currencies.
